Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactThe first thing I have to say about this deviation is that it's disturbingly awesome. That was my very first thought when I saw this.
I was not looking for a piece of visual artwork to critique, but when I saw this, I immediately went for it.
It is very thoughtful. It's monstrous in a very psychological way. We never think of Hello Kitty as a dark creature, and I'm sure that if I'd never seen something like this, I wouldn't ever have thought that Hello Kitty could be suicidal.
The graphic "realness" is what really makes this come out for me. It has less of a cartoony feel, and more of a real life look. It's so dirty and dingy, and its eyes are so lifeless. I could imagine this character being on the streets, basically selling itself for drugs, and then here it is, having committed suicide.
